FOCERRSA REUNION  -  3 – 6 April  2017

BEST WESTERN CEDAR COURT HOTEL, HARROGATE

 The Best Western Cedar Court Hotel is a large 4* hotel situated a few minutes walk or bus ride from the centre of Harrogate and overlooks a large expanse of green known as the Stray.  There is ample free parking on site. There are a few ground floor rooms and all other rooms can be reached by lift.  Unfortunately there are none with a walk-in shower.  The hotel is easily reached from the A1 and there is a rail service to Harrogate Station which is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel.

 

Harrogate itself has plenty to interest – historic buildings, gardens and shops and further afield there is much to do and see.  The Yorkshire Dales are nearby as are delightful small towns such as Ripon and Knaresborough.  Local attractions include Harewood House and the RHS gardens of Harlow Carr.  There is a good bus service and York and Leeds can be reached by rail. We aim to arrange a coach trip but organised walks would depend on volunteer leaders who know the area. (Please contact me if willing.)

 Duration: The Reunion will run from Monday 3^rd April until the morning of Thursday 6^th April (3 nights) 2017 with the option of adding an extra night on the Sunday and/or Thursday at the same cost.

Cost:  £55 per person, per night, dinner bed and breakfast, for those sharing a double or twin room.  £75 per night for singles.  There are no single rooms or hotel offers for “single places”,  but see the following note.

 

NB In view of the high cost of a single, more than in any previous year, FOCERRSA will, on this occasion, give “single” members a subsidy of £10 a night for the 3 nights of the Reunion (but not for extra nights).  This will be paid direct to members by FOCERRSA at the Reunion.  Although the hotel is aware of this arrangement it is not their concern administratively; they will charge members the full single rate.  Please do not confuse the matter by seeking any reduction from the hotel.

 NB It is the hotel's policy that any rooms provisionally reserved on a group arrangement which have not been booked by 8 weeks prior to the commencement of the group event shall be returned to the hotel. Thereafter, subject to availability, the hotel will charge their current “best available rate for DB&B”.  (NB  When my husband and I stayed in April we paid £93.65 per night B&B for a twin room and £24.50  per person for dinner.)

NB Contrary to the policy of The Hydro Hotel at Bowness (2016 Reunion) any member who is placed on a reserve list by the hotel due to unavailability of rooms when they try to book may be offered any vacancy created by a late cancellation by one of our members. However the hotel has asked that this is operated with my involvement as I will know personnel.  Consequently please let me know if you have been placed on a hotel reserve list or if you are intending to make a cancellation.

 From the response at the 2016 Reunion this venue is likely to prove very popular.  I can but advise that you book early.  Early booking also helps the organisers to plan the programme.
